And as one will level up more and more anyway, returning to such locations later is an option, or perhaps it's mandatory as part of a future quest.ītw, I know what it is like in G2 to stay in chapter 1 for 14-15 levels as to see how much the accessible world in that chapter can be cleared before moving on to chapter 2 - and then trying to clear Jharkendar before paying the Valley of Mines a visit for the first time at level 24-25. In the hilarious cases, abusing "jump" mechanics as to climb up a hill side. It only leads to players applying fetch and run tactics or exploiting an implementation and finding ways to circumvent such a beast. ![]() Placement of dangerous beasts in bottlenecks as to block access to an area (or dungeon entrance) doesn't get me excited in any game. Possibly moving a night when creatures sleep. The jetpack alone isn't enough to survive. Also, there are the newer types of creatures in various areas, flying and jumping beasts that pose a threat. Low fuel means one cannot simply fly to a destination all the way, so most of the exploration happens on the ground - running, sprinting as usual but using the jetpack to get on buildings, ledges/cliffs etc. In a sci-fi game, getting a jetpack early is a plus because it adds verticality early. The Master Jet Pack skill opens up aerial combat a bit (Fighting grounded enemies for a longer period of time is viable because you have infinite fuel where normally a strike to a grounded enemy would take a good chunk out of the player's fuel, unlike hitting airborne enemies) but like I said, it's a bit too late. I personally enjoyed the jet pack in both Elex 1 and 2 and I enjoyed how much they expanded upon it in Elex 2. I think there's a difference in design philosophy between the more linear Piranha Bytes games and the more open world Piranha Bytes games. This would have been cool as something you get 2/3 into the game which enables you to reach new areas that would be impossible to reach otherwise. I used it for like 5 mins, realized that I've already explored every square inch of the world and uninstalled the game. Originally posted by 0pp0:This basically. It's like playing Gothic in marvin mode and F8ing everywhere instead of walking. This motivation no longer exists because you can literally fly everywhere right from the beginning. This again gave you motivation to get stronger because you want to find out what lies beyond those enemies. In PBs previous games the game would be designed so that there's areas you can't get to because the paths would be blocked by stronger enemies. If you're the type of gamer to do most everything before you proceed, there's very little to do after attaining the skill. This basically. There isn't any story related place that can only be accessed with the infinite jet pack as far as I'm aware.Ī fully upgraded jet pack can probably reach most (If not all) places that an infinite jet pack can, granted the infinite jet pack will probably give you a bit more leeway in death zones.ĭoesn't really mean much though given that those death zones will kill you in a rather quick amount of time anyways and there's nothing in those death zones as far as I'm aware.ĭon't get me wrong, I think the infinite jet pack (Master Jet Pack skill) is great. Honestly, it should perhaps be a skill that one can attain earlier if they fully max out the jet pack.ĭoesn't really seem like there's any reason why a player shouldn't be able to attain this prior to beating the game. It's a great skill and everything, but after 100% the game, I most definitely feel like it's a little late. It's a wasted skill given that the people who rush through your game (The only one who this will really benefit to any great capacity) will probably not stick around for much longer, and the people who take their time with the game will probably have done most (If not all) they have to do.
